Derbyshire County Cricket Club Solar Installation, Derby

Matthew Brailsford of Custom Solar & Ryan Duckett of DCCC

The 3aaa County Ground has been the home of cricket in Derbyshire for over 140 years since the Club’s formation in November 1870. The ground has a rich sporting heritage and has hosted many events including a FA Cup final, international football and cricket, horse racing and the original home of Derby County Football Club.  The Club has invested millions of pounds to improve facilities for Members, supporters and Conference & Events customers. The 3aaa Pavilion has been transformed into a new and exclusive facility for Members on match days and a state-of-the-art 300-seater Conference & Events venue.

This was first phase of the Club’s long-term vision to develop an outdoor amphitheatre capable of hosting international cricket, concerts and community events. Due to such a drastic increase in events and a growing support for the game the club has had an ever growing power demand. Custom Solar monitored the ground for a number of months before moving ahead with an installation in order to understand the power usage throughout the week. A total commercial system size of 147kw was chosen to reduce electricity expenditure but also to protect the club against rising costs in the future.

Custom Solar like to stand alongside their clients and where possible reinvest profits into local projects and events for the community. Since the installation the partnership has joined forces for the Custom Solar Chesterfield Festival of cricket which takes place every summer and brings first class cricket to the town of Chesterfield.  More information can be found here
