Situated in the heart of the UK with easy access to the motorway networks and occupy factory premises at Danesmoor, Chesterfield, they truly are a Chesterfield Champion business and an ideal client for Custom Solar. In 2013 CCC were beginning some upgrade works which meant replacing the existing felt roof of the factory with a more appropriate (and water tight) trapezoidal metal roof. This was a small hurdle to jump but all parties agreed that a replacement roof would not only improve the building but would allow CCC to work for the next 30 years without worrying about the roof. Once the re-roofing work had taken place Custom Solar were brought in to assess the structure and placement of solar panels. Whilst conducting our initial feasibility study it became apparent that CCC were using a very similar amount of electricity per day and month. In day time electricity they used approximately 300,000 KW/h per year, this is due to them using an automated manufacturing process. CCC have an ideal south facing roof which is capable of accommodating 100kw of Solar panels (400 panels), which goes to meet a huge portion of their electricity demand and will in fact take them off grid during summer months. By adding 100kw of Solar energy CCC have shown their true colours and intentions for the future, with an eye on energy management and self-generation they have set the business on a sustainable path for the next generation. Custom Solar have the intention of ‘turning Chesterfield green’ and with the support of The Corrugated Case Company we are one rooftop closer.

“We had been considering installing a Solar PV system for the last couple of years, but the time wasn’t right for us until recently. When you look at the figures the systems tend to be cash positive, the system paying for itself with a payback period of about 10 years including maintenance cost. We obtained the usual number of quotes most were around the same price with just a few well over the top as usual. The quotes were from local and national companies, when we finished reviewing them it was decided that it would be in our best interests to go with a local company that had a good reputation and selected Custom Solar of Chesterfield. Custom Solar met with us and completed a thorough detailed survey of the premises to ensure that there would be no problems installing our 100kw system. They provided help and assistance in completing all the required paperwork involved, the installation went very smoothly with them complying with all our health and safety requirements and concerns, there was minimal disruption to the day to day workings in our very busy factory and yard. The installation took just over two weeks and that included some bad weather where they couldn’t work, we have noticed a substantial reduction in our first electric bill, the first of many, so let’s hope for a nice sunny summer and autumn!”
