Samantha Brailsford Environment Award Derbyshire TimesWe are so proud to have been recognised for our commitment to the environment at this years Derbyshire Times Business Awards, we were in good company with the very best of Chesterfield’s business community.

Entrants to the category were required to show examples of what innovative action their company had taken towards a low carbon economy and how they planned to maintain this action going forward.

Here at Custom Solar we recognise the social and economic importance of protecting the environment; that our commitment to this must encompass all activities and that we will lead by example in promoting a sensitive, considered attitude to the environment. It is our priority to encourage our customers, suppliers and all business associates to do the same.  Our recognised responsibility of promoting a low carbon economy led us to take the important step to attain ISO 14001:2004 accreditation through the British Assessment Bureau in April 2015.  Through this certification we are required to implement an environmental policy and action plan to manage our impact on the environment, we are also committed to continuous improvement and are assessed annually to ensure progress is being maintained.  We have a bold vision of ‘Turning Chesterfield Green’ A great example of this local green revolution spearheaded by ourselves is demonstrated through a relationship formed in 2014 with MSE Hiller, a well-respected company for the supply of environmental engineering products to the water and Industrial effluent control sectors throughout the UK.  A 75kw solar system was installed in December 2014 by Custom Solar LTD at their £3 million state of the art premises based on Markham Vale in order to provide MSE Hiller with a means to generate their own electricity and where possible achieve self-sufficiency.  Since installing Solar MSE Hiller has seen their monthly electricity usage reduce substantially, comparing bills in May 14 to May 15 the reduction was over 60% and at many peak times the company is completely off grid.  The co2 savings as a result of this innovative action are of in excess of 58,482 kg per annum.  The very core of our business is to provide clients within the Chesterfield and Derbyshire area the ability to generate their own electricity, reduce carbon emissions and protect local employment through stable energy supply.  We are the go to company locally for advice and support regarding renewable energy and our action plan going forward is to continue to build the momentum of ‘Turning Chesterfield Green’ by ensuring we practice what we preach.
