Energy expenses down by a third for IMK Group

Previously known as I M Kelly Ltd, the IMK Group has evolved dramatically from when the business was first established in Burton Latimer in 1975. No longer just specialising in leather, it now supplies premium quality trimmed parts in manmade, natural and sustainable materials to the automotive, aerospace, rail & leisure sectors.

Overview of the challenge

With the support of their parent company, ECA Group, IMK wanted to make significant investment in renewable, clean energy to substantially reduce their carbon footprint.

Our approach

To support their ambition, we installed a state-of-the-art 716.4kWp Solar PV system at their Kettering Head office, comprising of a total of 1,592 Solar panels. Each panel has a capacity of 450Wp and will generate an impressive annual output of 667,295kW while bringing annual carbon emissions down by a remarkable 313.55 tonnes.

The results

This transformational system is set to reduce IMK’s energy expenses by a significant 36%.

In addition to supporting IMK’s Kettering manufacturing, the scale of the project will mean that significant surplus green energy will be fed back to the grid for the wider community. IMK is now exploring further solar installations across its other UK sites.

Having worked with Custom Solar over the past year, IMK have been very impressed by their professionalism, quality of installation and openness. Custom Solar have demonstrated their expertise and experience throughout the project and have been successful in delivering a Solar system, safely, on time and to budget costs.
